[The fact that the waters are already rising this high is... very definitely not comforting. Not least of all because it's going to make actually leaving their apartment more difficult. Not as much so as it might be were it not for the portals, but... still not a comforting thought either.
(And one that will raise even more problems for those who cannot use the portals the way they can, for all that it's a fleeting thought at best.)
He doesn't reach out to offer any physical comfort - he's still not particularly good at being demonstrative and may not be for some time - but he draws near enough that perhaps Demyx can find some comfort in his presence before he speaks again.]
I believe it has flooded once before. However, I cannot recall if that was preceded by storms like this. Nor would I consider it to be comforting even so.
[Even if it's a normal flood, there's going to be more than a little disruption to life in the city. And with how suddenly the rain has come on, he doubts that it's anything normal.]
[His face twists up for a moment, trying to place it. For as long as he's been here and spent time growing a new heart, some things still felt pretty muted or non-existent. This was one of those times.]
Not normal. I can't explain it, but it feels wrong. Usually I'm all about storms and junk, but this?
[Demyx has been uneasy since it started. Why? He couldn't say. All he knows is it feels completely different from any ordinary storm. Even the time the city had flooded before didn't feel like this, and that's probably the worst thing that could happen.]
It's like every inch of my body is telling me to stay away from it, and I don't know why.
[Muted though the feelings might be, they're still more than Xemnas has managed. Both in this particular instance and in general. He listens though - he's never had much of any sort of intuition with regards to water and it's not like the void is going to be much use here.]
It would not be the first time that... unwelcome changes have befallen the city.
[What harm, if any, the water actually is actually capable of is another question. But it's not like he isn't more than capable of remaining indoors as well; or simply bypassing being outdoors at all, if it becomes necessary to go anywhere else.]
Thus, it is not impossible that such should do so again. Nor that it might arrive in such a manner. As such, I see little need to explore further.
I've never felt this weird about it until now, though.
[He frowns to himself as he cups his hands together, calling a small ball of water into his palms. It doesn't look like anything special (it's just water), but to Demyx? It's clean. Pure. Harmless by itself, but he may as well be holding a knife all things considered. There's some hesitation too, but as the wind and rain picks up, Demyx makes his decision.
With the water still in his hands, he tucks himself against the other man's side. Being nearby was all fine and dandy, but this?
It soothes his frazzled nerves that much more.]
You know the crazy thing? I've been keeping an eye on the weather apps on the bracelets and they don't even have the little, uh... Whatsitcalled? The thing that shows where the clouds should be moving and how bad the storm looks? There's nothing on it about this.
[That. Sure is Demyx tucking himself against his side. And for all that he has spent several months living with Xigbar, he isn't entirely sure what to make of it. Enough so that it's more of an unknown than the ball of water that Demyx is still holding in his hand.
(Although in fairness, he knows - loosely - what to expect out of the water should Demyx decide to pick a fight out of the blue. Physical contact, somewhat less so, especially from someone not Xigbar.)]
An unnatural storm, then.
[He's not surprised, not entirely. But it does go a long way to explain at least why it seems to have come on so suddenly.]
Perhaps that is the reason it feels as it does to you.
[He's only half aware of his tail reaching out for Xemnas, but he doesn't bother grabbing for it. Instead, he just lets it do its own thing and loosely hook around his leg. It should bother him. It really should, but... The contact was nice. Is nice.
Who'd have guessed he'd be this keyed up by a storm?]
...Hey, Xemnas? If it gets too bad out there, what're we gonna do?
[There's a shrug with the words. Whether it's true or not, he can't say. But it's definitely not impossible either, given some of the things that have already happened in the city.
He doesn't move to shift out of the way of Demyx's tail either. Perhaps he should, to suggest that there's little need for such things during something as simple as a storm. But at the same time... he doesn't mind it. And if he should need to go somewhere, he doubts that alone would be enough to keep him from leaving.]
As to what to do should the storms continue... it should be a simple matter to use the corridors of darkness to avoid the rain itself. However, that would likely require leaving others to their own decisions in regards to any flooding that should occur.
[Did he hear him right? Demyx's expression shifts into something that'd be comical if it weren't for the unease he feels regarding the storm, but it does prompt him to lean away to actually look up at Xemnas. He's... He definitely heard him, but it's still.
Really, really weird.]
Waitwait, you're... worried about other people? Forreal?
Let us say that I am... aware that it might pose problems for those who are not able to use the corridors of darkness.
[It's not anything that he would person classify as concern, much less worry, but he's aware of it. Especially when he's almost positive that the network will be full of people's complaints should things get so bad - or if it should prove that there is some manner of consequence to being caught out in the rain.]
Okay, one good thing about his emotions still being a little haywire? He can forget about his worries for a hot minute. Demyx shakes his hands, ridding them of the ball of water and making it vanish with the tiniest of splashes. And then, just like that? He grins, all canines on display as he leans up on his toes, his weight pressing more insistently against his side.]
Awwwwwwww, dude. That's really sweet, man.
[L o o k. It's easier to act like a shit-gremlin than it is to keep being worried about a storm, no matter how bad it is!]
[That has Xemnas looking a little more uncomfortable. Not for the way Demyx is pressing more insistently against his side, but for the suggestion that he might actually have something like emotions.]
[Seeing the look on his face prompts an ugly snort and that stupid, nasally laugh that slips out when he finds that certain thing that leaves him feeling tickled pink.]
Tomayto, tomahto, boss. You can call it whatever you want, but it's sweet. Nice, even.
[Even those yellow eyes of his - the ones that still carry the taint of Xehanort - seem to glow with amusement.]
[Admittedly, he doesn't usually stop to allow himself to do so. But he's not about to stop other people from doing so either. Not when the fact that others do care has been something that has proven so useful in his plans.]

[If it feels like a bad idea... it probably is.
A moment later he continues.]
Unless you believe there to be a need?

It is practical.
