[almost an hour passes before ven finally knocks at demyx's door. he looks tired and miserable, like he hasn't slept well in days and with the redness around his eyes says he's been having more than just sleeping troubles.
still, he smiles when dem opens the door and gives him a little wave, his other hand holding a small box with a decorative ribbon on top.]
The former ruler of Sanguis moon received this picture and called it "junk mail." 8 days later Sanguis moon became uninhabitable. A man received this picture and immediately sent out copies, then received good fortune for an entire year, including winning a jackpot lottery. Copy, paste, and send this to 9 people or you will be cursed. Don't take any chances. Sanguis did, and now no one can live there.
[Even though he's been spending Christmas with Isa, he's not forgotten about his friends. Or the people who helped him through a rough patch. So Demyx will get this from Lea.]
Thanks for everything, Dem. I wish I could have been friends with you sooner because you're an amazing guy. Hope you don't mind a guy like me crushing on you because I really am.
[He's gone months without needing to worry about the possessive qualities of the Sanguis moon for months. Then two months in a row? Bam. There it is. He kind of hates dealing with it at all but he knows he has to. Somehow. For right now though? He's content to head over in the direction he smells Demyx.
What he's doing is beyond him but he wants to join him. Wants to...
He stops when he sees someone flirting with his friend. A cute cat girl. His wolf ears stand at attention before lowering as he moves forward, the extra red fur he has a little more at attention now. His. His Demyx.
Coming up behind the other, he wraps his arms around his middle and settles his chin on his shoulder, growling softly.
[He's blissfully unaware of Lea behind him for a few moments, his tail swaying behind him and his ears perked up in interest as he chatters away. At least they are until the girl starts to look vaguely... concerned? And then she starts excusing herself, earning a slightly confused look.
Then he feels Lea behind him - around him - and he feels the quiet growl.
Oh.
He barely mumbles a goodbye to the girl before she makes her exit, and once she's out of earshot he pouts. But he doesn't seem to be trying to pull away or anything so that's something, right?]
Duuuuuude, I was this close from scoring free grub!
[It's only after she leaves and complains that Lea even realizes what he's been doing. His ears droop in apology.
Oops.]
Sorry. Still getting a handle on this. It used to be I could just tackle one of you guys and hug you until it went away. It's gotten worst these past couple of moons.
[He nuzzles into his neck.]
You smell good though. Definitely makes me want to let everyone know you're mine.
[Even if Demyx technically...isn't. Which probably isn't helping.]
[For a moment, he feels something tug at his chest when he sees Lea's ears flop over like that.
Whatever it was, Demyx pushes it down and cracks a grin, reaching up and back with one hand to lightly prod one of them as he tilts his head to the side to give Lea as much room as he wants. This-- It felt different now, but it was a good different.]
[When the Sanguis moon rises over the horizon, the changes it brings are - to be perfectly honest - nothing out of the ordinary for Xemnas, at this point. Some are a little more of a hassle than others (sleeping with wings isn't exactly easy), but it's a hassle he's used to by this point.
On the other hand... it's been long enough since he's had anyone else living in the same space that he absolutely doesn't think anything of stepping out into the common areas wearing nothing more than a pair of pants. Especially when shirts and wings are more of an inconvenience than he cares to deal with, if he doesn't mean to go anywhere.
(He's aware that Demyx isn't one of the few people who would have seen the parts of his moonblessing that are usually hidden under his coat. But at the same time it's normal enough to him that he doesn't stop to think that it would be particularly noticeable, either. Or at least, not anything that would be anything more than somewhat intriguing.)]
[Despite his initial misgivings over the entire situation, Demyx adapted to this new life faster than he'd like to admit. It took... a week, maybe two at most before he'd started to sprawl out on the couch like he owned the place, and another before he started staking claim to Xemnas's bed while he was away.
He still slept anywhere but at night though, so come morning the Cordis can be found on the couch with a bowl of dry cereal balanced on one knee and a small pile on his chest that he drops into his mouth every now and then. His eyes are glued to whatever lousy reality TV show playing on the screen at this hour - reruns of Prismal Shore when Xemnas steps out, and for a moment he doesn't notice, even when he glances over.]
Morn--
[Demyx trails off, blinking. That's... Wait. He slowly looks over, mouth slightly agape as he just sort of. Gawks.]
[Given that he has not typically had a whole lot of people he might have been inclined to share a bed with - even in a completely non-euphemistic way - nor many people who might have been interested, it doesn't bother him in the slightest that Demyx doesn't to have any interest in sleeping elsewhere at night. Not when the point had been more to arrive at a somewhat more mutually beneficial arrangement (or at least, one that didn't mean either of them had continued to live alone).
He turns, at the sound of Demyx's voice, not even so much as batting an eye at what he finds. Even the show that's currently on doesn't get much of a reaction past a brief glance to see what it actually is.]
Surely you were aware of which moon's influence I have been affected by?
[At this distance, it's easy to see the flash of fangs that might otherwise go unnoticed. But that depends on Demyx actually looking there, rather than at any of the other things that his lack of a shirt reveals.]
[His eyes are most definitely not looking at his mouth, so the fangs go unnoticed for the moment. No, they're locked on the rest of Xemnas, and for the first time in a long while Demyx finds himself questioning the purpose of those damned coats. Sure they were great protection from the Corridors, but surely whoever made them could've found something that left little to the imagination.
...Look, he'd be lying if he said he wasn't a little curious, alright? He's only human. Or human-ish.]
I've never seen you without... Y'know. Anything covering the upstairs. Or looking that casual.
[Not having been the first person to wear the coat the Organization had adopted for itself, Xemnas can't truly say if there might be another way to protect oneself. He does, admittedly, know that the Keybearers have - and have had - other ways of doing so, but none of them are anything that would have involved significantly less coverage. As best he understands the matter, at least.
Still, he appears to be only mildly discomfited by Demyx's continues staring. Likely a side effect of having lived with Xigbar for more than a decade, even before arriving to the city.]
There was not a need to, prior. As I am sure you can understand.
[True, Demyx's own moonblessing doesn't appear to come with wings, like his does. But it still involves some amount of physical transformation, if what Xemnas has previously seen is anything to go by.]
[That's... Demyx's ears go back in thought, but just like that they flip right back up. Right, right, that's after Cordis, isn't it? He's been rolling with the calendar so long that he's way too used to it by now.]
Yes. There will also be two more dogs for you to take care of when you're here. It should only be for a few hours but they will all need to be fed their dinner which I'll have in the fridge. Each container will have their name on it to make it easier and any heating instructions.
[It's not the first time that the city has been wracked by sudden storms. Still, it's not something that Xemnas can really say that he'd expected to recur, but neither is there any denying that it has. Not as the floodwaters begin to rise, and that is more than enough to have him seeking Demyx out and not just out of the hopes that his mastery of water magic will be enough to keep their apartment dry (though that is part of it as well).
After all, the last thing he wants is for there to prove to be something unexpected in the water this time, and for all that he might deny it, there is a fragment of concern in him over Demyx's safety.]
[It's not the first time it started storming in the city and while it probably won't be the last, something about it has Demyx on edge. Each rumble of thunder and each crack of lightning prompts his ears to twitch as he watches it all from the window. He's been keeping an eye on the streets, particularly with how high the water has risen so far on the pavement. If it keeps up like this...
Yeesh.
A particularly loud clap of thunder prompts his ears to pin back against his head, and there's no denying the shiver that runs down his spine. Before, he'd say it was because he feels someone watching him. Now? It's 100% the storm.]
[The fact that the waters are already rising this high is... very definitely not comforting. Not least of all because it's going to make actually leaving their apartment more difficult. Not as much so as it might be were it not for the portals, but... still not a comforting thought either.
(And one that will raise even more problems for those who cannot use the portals the way they can, for all that it's a fleeting thought at best.)
He doesn't reach out to offer any physical comfort - he's still not particularly good at being demonstrative and may not be for some time - but he draws near enough that perhaps Demyx can find some comfort in his presence before he speaks again.]
I believe it has flooded once before. However, I cannot recall if that was preceded by storms like this. Nor would I consider it to be comforting even so.
[Even if it's a normal flood, there's going to be more than a little disruption to life in the city. And with how suddenly the rain has come on, he doubts that it's anything normal.]
[His face twists up for a moment, trying to place it. For as long as he's been here and spent time growing a new heart, some things still felt pretty muted or non-existent. This was one of those times.]
Not normal. I can't explain it, but it feels wrong. Usually I'm all about storms and junk, but this?
[Demyx has been uneasy since it started. Why? He couldn't say. All he knows is it feels completely different from any ordinary storm. Even the time the city had flooded before didn't feel like this, and that's probably the worst thing that could happen.]
It's like every inch of my body is telling me to stay away from it, and I don't know why.
